Verna Jean Bird, age 90, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025. Born on February 17, 1935, in St. Ignatius, Montana, she was the beloved daughter of Vernon Edward and Delia Eugenia (Vincent) Boucher.
Throughout her life, Verna found joy in many pursuits, including her love for cats and birds, as well as her passion for crocheting and quilting. She cherished the time spent with her family and was known for her modest, quiet, and happy demeanor.
Verna moved around as a child and eventually found her soulmate, Melvin Bird, whom she married on February 2, 1951, in Butte. During Melvin's service in the Navy, she resided in Great Falls. After his return, they settled back in Butte, and in 1971, they relocated to Whitehall, where they built their cherished home in 1972.
Verna is survived by her daughter, Melinda Poff (Dave) of Whitehall; her brothers, Ed Boucher (Jean) of Townsend and Victor Boucher of Anaconda; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin; her sister, Audrey; and her daughters, Karen Biovich, Susie Bird, and Judy Beaudry, as well as her son, Dennis Bird.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 5th, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Whitehall Cemetery in Whitehall, Montana. Verna's memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
