We mourn the loss of John Hugh Pearson, 63, who died on March 30, 2025. John was born in Syracuse, New York, to John Harlan and Nona Fay Pearson. He spent his childhood in Baldwinsville, New York, and graduated from C.W. Baker High School.
John served 22 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and another 10 years with NATO. He retired from the military as an E-8 Master Sergeant.
Back in the U.S., John married and settled in Colorado with his wife before moving to Western Montana. They enjoyed weekend getaways exploring wide-open spaces, motorcycling, camping, hiking, and canoeing.
John is survived by his wife, three children, six grandchildren, four stepchildren, three sisters, an honorary brother, and nieces and nephews. John was renowned for his faithful and quiet service to others as a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ.
A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, July 12, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 601 5th Avenue East, Three Forks, Montana, with interment and military honors at Fairview Cemetery in Three Forks. A celebration of John’s life will follow.
A memorial for John will also take place in Baldwinsville, New York, at a later date.
Contributions in John’s honor can be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Services or the Bozeman Help Center, Inc., which is recognized for its support of U.S. military veterans.
