Arleta Alice Miller

July 28, 1931 — May 5, 2026

Sally Miller of Ennis passed away peacefully on May 5th, 2026, at the age of 94. She was born in Spokane, Washington, the only child to Ralph and Bonita Chapin. Her childhood was idyllic, full of good friends and summers spent at the family cabin on Diamond Lake.

In the summer of 1950, she met the love of her life, Bill Miller, another Spokane native. Theirs was a whirlwind romance, and they married the following fall. Their first child, Rick, was born a year later, followed by their daughter Cathy a couple of years later. Bill's job provided the opportunity to live in different parts of the country. During the first 25 years of their marriage, Bill and Sally lived in nine different communities, mostly in the Northwest and New England. They took full advantage of the opportunities in each, making friends and exploring the surrounding area. They loved seeing cities as well as camping under the stars, usually with their pet dachshund in tow.

In the early 80's, they decided it was time to put down some permanent roots. Bill took an early retirement, and they moved to Ennis, where they built a log cabin, doing most of the work themselves. Sally also became involved in operating the Happy Angler antique store, where she made many wonderful friends. They also developed the L & M Ranches property, which provided new friendships with every new arrival. Bill and Sally continued to seek out new adventures and traveled throughout the United States and abroad. Theirs was a love story that lasted almost seventy years.

In her later years, Sally received compassionate care at the Manor, where she spent her final days surrounded by the same nurturing love she had always given. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at The Manor and the Madison Valley Medical Center for their kindness and support during this time.

Sally was a woman of strength, warmth, and good humor. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children Rick (Debbie) and Cathy (Gary), her four grandchildren, and her many friends.
